The sarod is a classical stringed instrument originating from India. It is known for its distinctive sound, expressive capabilities, and virtuosic playing techniques. The sarod has a long, fretless neck made of wood, typically made from teak or mahogany. It features a resonating body called the tumba, which is covered with a tightly stretched goatskin membrane. The instrument has four to six main playing strings, made of metal or silk, which run over a metal fingerboard & 11 to 15 sympathetic strings that resonate sympathetically with the main strings.
