Tanpura

A tanpura is a long-necked, fretless, stringed instrument commonly used in Indian classical music. It is known for providing a continuous drone in the background, acting as a reference pitch and creating a harmonic and melodic background for the musicians. It typically has four or five metal strings that run over a raised bridge, which is mounted on the top of the resonating chamber.
